Shella Roma pleaded guilty to dissemination of a terrorist publication at Manchester Crown Court. The charge was brought under Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Roma, of Chester Street, Oldham, committed the offence between October 2007 and January last year.

The leaflet urged readers to go abroad to fight a jihad or holy war.

She was jointly accused with her 30-year-old husband, Amjad Mahmood, who denied the charge. The pair were due to go on trial this week.

Roma, who has a baby, had 200 copies of the leaflet she wrote printed at a photocopy show in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester. She was arrested after the shop assistant tipped off police about the leaflet, an eight page essay entitled The Call.

It contained theological, political and historical commentary and mentions the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York and the war on terror.

The case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be prepared. Roma will be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on March 20. She was released on bail.

Judge Clement Goldstone QC ordered the charges against Mahmood to lie on file.
