Youth held over teenager stabbing

A 17-year-old youth has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another teenager was stabbed to death.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service shortly after 11.30pm on Friday night to reports of a stabbing in Walthamstow, east London.

Emergency services found an 18-year-old youth suffering from multiple stab wounds in Prospect Hill, Shernhall Street.

He was pronounced dead on the way to hospital.

Next of kin have been informed.

A post mortem examination will take place at Queens Road Mortuary, in Walthamstow.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a disturbance on Shernhall Street before emergency services arrived. The number to call is 020 8345 1570.

The 17-year-old is now in custody at an east London police station.
