Youth in court over woman's murder

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman who disappeared while out walking her dog.

The battered body of Kelly Hyde, 24, of Ammanford, west Wales, was discovered in woodland close to her home on Sunday.

The trainee hairdresser had last been seen three days earlier after dropping off her car at a garage in the village of Tycroes.

She disappeared shortly afterwards when she is known to have taken her pet whippet for a walk.

A teenager from the Pantyffynnon area was arrested on Tuesday and was charged with her murder late on Friday.

He appeared at Llanelli Magistrates Court where he spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

His mother, who was also present, sobbed into her hands when her son was brought into court.

The youth, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was remanded in custody to the town's youth court on Tuesday.

No application for bail was made.
