A 15-year-old boy will beat athletes from around the world to be first in the Olympic pool before the 2012 Games.
Archie Mitchell, a 1,500m freestyle swimmer from Dulwich, trains about eight times a week and won gold at the British Open Water Championships last year. He has been selected to take part in the school games - where 3,000 teenage athletes will compete in London 2012 venues in May.
Archie, left, who hopes to swim professionally, said the school games will give him the opportunity to see how he matches up against the best of his age from all over the country.
He swims for Wandsworth Swimming Club and trains with the Crystal Palace Beacon Programme, which helps to develop talented young swimmers. He said: "It's going to be where everyone's swimming in 2012, so it's going to be a pretty big thing to say I've been in there before."
Archie is one of the youngest swimmers to qualify for the Olympic swimming trials next month. He said: "The Olympics will show people how good sport is for you."
