Ice bar phonebox
Freezing point: the new telephone box at the Icebar

Ice bar's phonebox - perfect for cold calling

Anna Davis, Evening Standard

A full-size red phone box, one of the most iconic images of London, has been carved entirely from ice as part of the decor of the capital's coolest bar.

The Absolut Icebar - which has the unique selling point of being kept at a temperature of minus 5C at all times - is being reopened today after a revamp and the addition of a string of London-themed ice sculptures.

The phone box is one of the highlights of the redesign, which also has a London Tube map and skyline of the capital carved into sheets of ice.

Everything in the bar in Heddon Street is made of ice, including the walls, bar, and glasses.

Drinkers are kitted out in specially designed capes and gloves to withstand the freezing temperatures.

They enter the bar through an air-lock-style entrance that keeps the room below freezing.
