Where to eat late in Chinatown; Peking ducks

Crisp and even: Peking duck is a firm favourite on the menus in Chinatown

Chinatown offers a range of restaurants serving Chinese and Cantonese dishes well into the early hours.

Hung's
In its past incarnation as The Crispy Duck, Hung's was a favourite of Richard Corrigan, who would pitch up for fuel when the Lindsay House kitchens closed. No frills, no fuss, no problems … and it's open until 4am. 27 Wardour Street, W1 (020 7287 6578)

Four Seasons
This Four Seasons is the newish sibling to the restaurant with the same name on Queensway. The W2 branch is famous for its roast meats and you'll find they are equally good in W1. The simpler noodle dishes are also mighty fine. Until 3am, 12 Gerrard Street, W1,(020 7494 0870)

HK Diner
The HK Diner serves mainly Cantonese dishes. Brave souls can order congee (allegedly the world's best hangover preventative) and those tapioca pearl drinks — milkshakes with lumps in. Bright lighting and modern/functional décor with diner-style booths. Until 4am, 22 Wardour Street, W1,(020 7434 9544)

Mr Kong
Despite a refurb after a major fire nothing much changes at Mr Kong's, so when that nocturnal longing for decent seafood kicks in (the steamed razor clams and the scallops are particularly notable) it makes a grand option. Always check out the chef's specials for more exotic delicacies. Until 2.45am, 21 Lisle Street, WC2 (020 7437 7341, www.mrkongrestaurant.com)

New Mayflower
The New Mayflower has a good reputation and serves all those favourite Cantonese dishes. You can also expect sound service. A good place for night owls or anybody with the munchies on their way home. Until 4am, 68-70 Shaftesbury Avenue, W1 (020 7734 9207)
