Take three Tapas restaurants

11 Sep 2009

Barrafina
54 Frith Street, W1
(020 7813 8016; barrafina.co.uk)

What It's all very egalitarian in Sam and Eddie Hart's Soho speakeasy. Everyone eats at the bar while the chefs slice jamon in the central kitchen. The menu is a mix of authentic and adventurous Spanish dishes, such as classic tortilla and octopus with capers.
Order The croquetas de jamon are deliciosas.
Cost Around £5 per dish.
Best time to go For the most buzz, Thursday to Saturday evenings but you may have to queue.
Rating 8/10

Moro
34-36 Exmouth Market, EC1
(020 7833 8336; moro.co.uk)

What This is a local institution. After a glass of chilled sherry, with
incredible sourdough bread, you know you're in for a treat. The menu is simple, packed with fresh
ingredients and there's more than a hint of North African spice.
Order Try the classic sobrasada
(pork seasoned with paprika) and pimientos de Padron (fried green peppers and rock salt).
Cost Around £4 per dish.
Best time to go Friday or Saturday evenings.
Rating 9/10

Iberica
195 Great Portland Street, W1
(020 7636 8650; ibericalondon.com)

What With a menu of some 50 hot and cold tapas, this light and spacious Fitzrovia restaurant offers something to suit everyone's craving. All the staff are Spanish so the atmosphere is laid-back and authentic, plus there is a deli counter and a fine-dining restaurant upstairs.
Order Don't miss the black rice
with cuttlefish and ensaladilla
(potato, egg and tuna salad).
Cost Around £7 per dish.
Best time to go For nibbles after work.
Rating 8/10
