A Bite Out In London - Bangalore Express in The City

26 Jan 2010

What to expect
One of the latest Indian restaurants with a trendy edge to be cropping up around the capital. Flavoursome food that won't break the bank.

Hot Dishes
The Big Plates are great value; giving you the chance to make your own dish. After choosing a base from meat, fish or vegetables, pick from a cooking style, vegetable and rice to accompany your curry. In four simple steps your meal is tailored to your tastes. Great idea.

The oven roasted Tandoori dishes are also delicious. They include tiger prawns marinated in lime pickle, salmon with dill, chicken tikka supreme marinated in sweet red chillies, chicken drumsticks coated in fenugreek, lamb chops in herbs and spices and lamb tikka served with mint paneer cheese.

Drink up
The upstairs bar makes a great meeting place for a drink before or after your meal. There is a wide selection of drinks from beers and spirits to cocktails and champagne. The Bangalore Indian Summer is the restaurant's signature drink. Be warned, this special gin based cocktail has a spicy twist.

Ambience
Laid back and friendly with a modern design. Despite being open plan each table feels quite intimate as a result of booth styled seating. There is even a separate room for small parties. Be it a small gathering with friends or a birthday do this venue caters for all. For more of a buzz, visit the City branch on a weekday.

Where to find it
Following a successful opening in Waterloo, the latest Bangalore Express can be found in the City.

Cheque Out
The Big Dish is a bargain at £9.50. Indian style tapas is ideal as a starter and is £4.75 a dish. Puddings are £4.75 each. Expect to pay about £30 each per head for a three course meal with drinks.
