A Bite Out In London - City Café in Westminster

Amira Hashish
12 May 2010

What to expect
A hotel restaurant that is not just catering for its residents. With head chef Scott Macdonald bringing an abundance of experience to the restaurant and an enthusiastic team on board it is worth popping in after a trip to one of the nearby tourist attractions.

Hot Dishes
For starters the City Café prawn cocktail with avocado, tomato salsa and tempura king prawn is one of the favourites. Keeping things traditional, the fish and chips in bitter and twisted beer batter is a safe option. Corn fed chicken pot-au-feu or the rump of Kent lamb are great meat options. If you have plenty of room for pudding try the bittersweet chocolate and pecan tart or go for the lemon posset for a refreshing twist.

Drink Up
There is a good wine selection with daily recommendations of the best to match the menu.

Ambience
Busy and friendly. Be sure to visit the Millbank Lounge cocktail bar for that extra buzz. Also, on a sunny day the outdoor terrace with barbeque should get you in the summer spirit.

Where to find it
Very near the Tate Britain and not too far from Pimlico tube station.

Cheque Out
For best value, go for the set meal. Two courses for £17.95 or three for £22.95 per person plus drinks.
