Critic's Choice: Where to eat Terrine

Stanza
Newcomer: Stanza has a commendably short menu of British classics

Charles Campion outlines the best places to eat Terrine.

Stanza
93-107 Shaftesbury Avenue, W1

This new establishment is the latest incarnation of the restaurant at Teatro. A commendably short menu of British classics includes a pressed terrine of chicken, bacon and foie gras. Good cooking. £25pp ex-drinks (020 7494 3020).

Chez Bruce
2 Bellevue Road, SW17

A seriously good restaurant that lives up to its stellar reputation. Very good charcuterie work, classical terrines and some delicious French food. The jewel in SW17's rather battered crown.
£35pp ex-drinks (020 8672 0014).

Galvin Bistrot deluxe
66 Baker Street, W1

When it comes to bourgeois French food (and that includes terrines), the Galvin Brothers' restaurant is uncompromising and wholly committed. Very good eating. £25pp ex-drinks (020 7935 4007).
