O'Driscoll set to make opener

Brian O'Driscoll is poised for a sensational return for Ireland's opener against Namibia on Sunday.

Coach Eddie O'Sullivan made the shock announcement after skipper O'Driscoll trained with the squad in Dublin yesterday.

It puts the star centre ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation from the fractured sinus he suffered against Bayonne last month when a punch from Mike Tewhata looked to have ruled him out of the tournament.

O'Sullivan said: 'Brian took a full part in training, so I'm very happy about that. He's ahead of schedule and it's a distinct possibility that he could face Namibia.'

Knee-injury victim Shane Horgan also trained yesterday and could be fit to face Georgia in the second group game on Saturday week.
