Will urges dogs of war to terrorise favourites

Will Greenwood warned England last night: "Being tackled by a Springbok is like being hit by a bus."

And the 2003 World Cup-winning centre advises Brian Ashton's men to "smash into the South Africans from the first whistle" if they are to have any hope of lifting the World Cup tomorrow.

Former Harlequins star Greenwood said: "It hasn't been a smooth ride for England. To win in Paris tomorrow would be the most unbelievable comeback, better even than Man United's 1999 Champions League success, Red Rum's exploits in 1973 or West Germany's triumph at the 1954 World Cup, three of the best 'come from behind' efforts in history."

Greenwood admits to being "flabbergasted" England got to the final after their 36-0 defeat against South Africa in the pool stages.

And the ITV pundit knows Ashton's side face an almighty challenge to gain revenge over the Springboks.

"I have absolute admiration for what South Africa bring to world rugby - first and foremost their physicality," he said.

"They're the hardest of men in a hard sport and I can testify that being tackled by a Springbok is like being hit by a bus. England must smash into the South Africans from the first whistle, unleash the 'dogs of war' that have been evident in recent games and fire into numbers 1 through 15 from the word go."
