13 JULY

St Catherine's Hospice 10k + 3k Run

Where: K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley, Sussex, RH11 9BQ
Back for the 14th consecutive year this race is suitable for the beginner and experienced runner and is a one lap multi-terrain event that starts and finishes from the running track at K2 Leisure Centre. Each finisher will receive a medal and goody bag and trophies will be awarded to category winners in the 10k Race. The race will be followed by a 3k fun run for all ages and abilities.

Cost: £12 in advance or £15 on the day for 10K run. £4 in advance or £5 on the day for 3K run.

Race for Life, 5k

Where: Blackheath (and also Reading)
Race for Life, Cancer Research flagship event, has grown to become the largest female only UK fundraiser. It is open to women of all levels of fitness with almost half the participants choosing to walk the course. Be part of something very special and help beat last year's phenomenal number of 665,000 runners who raised more than £40m. There is no prize for first place and every penny you raise in sponsorship will go towards furthering ground-breaking research. In the past each event has proved to hugely moving and inspirational. Some events are already closed but here is a list of those in and around London that still have places.

Bupa Great Capital Run, 10k

Where: Hyde Park
London is one of the wealthiest cities in the world, yet shockingly one in every three of our Capital's children lives in poverty. This event, organized by Help a London Child, is held in aid of improving the lives of thousands of children suffering abuse, poverty, homelessness and disability. In keeping with the tradition of all other Great Run events it will attract some of the world's best middle and long distance runners to head up the front of the field. Join this fantastic cause and help beat last years count of 11,000 runners. Nearest Tube: Marble Arch/Lancaster Gate.
