It's events like the Nike 10k Human Race on 31 August that show just how popular running has become – for all ages and fitness levels.
With many runners raising money for charity with every step they take, running is not just about looking good and feeling good it can also do good.
These three things are the inspiration behind this website designed to help women runners to get the most out of training, to share their stories and tips and to find running events in and around London – whether they are experienced runners or just starting out.
So here are the details about the Human Race.
Where: Globally with events in London (but you don't have to join an official event, you can run anywhere and simply synch your running times using Nike+ and your computer).
Starts: Wembley Stadium where 30,000 runners and 10,000 guests will pack the stadium for pre-race live sets from Moby, Pendulum and Carl Craig.
Finishes: After running through the streets of Wembley the race will finish on Olympic Way in front of the stadium's famous floodlit arch.
When: 31 August
Fee: £30 – 10% will go to charities. Includes a t-shirt and medal, if you complete.
Time: Doors open 5pm must be in the stadium for 6pm
Registration: visit nikeplus.nike.com
Tips: Sign up as a registered Nike+ runner and train for the race with Nike+ Coach which gives tips and lets you log your times and training schedule.
