The actor married the former dancer and TV presenter in a civil ceremony followed by a blessing in his local church, St Mary's, in Denham, Buckinghamshire in the evening.
The couple defied the torrential downpour on New Years Eve with a festive service in which the bride, 44, wore a floor-length red gown.
After the service they left the church, holding their two young children, serenaded by the village brass band which played Jingle Bells .
Wearing a velvet frock-coat Lindsay, 57, grinned and said he was "elated" - a world away from his cantankerous My Family character, husband Ben Harper. He said: "It had to rain on New Years Eve didn't it?"
His new wife Rosemarie, 44, who rose to fame as Bruce Forsyth's assistant in the Generation Game, said: "It has been bliss."
Amongst the guests was actress and Lindsay's My Family co-star Zoe Wanamaker who plays his wife Susan Harper.
Dressed in a bright pink evening coat the glamorous actress, who arrived with her husband the actor and writer Gawn Grainger, described the service as "delightful". She said watching her on-screen husband walk down the aisle was "hilarious".
She added: "He made me laugh, he always does." More than 100 guests gathered in the church to sing carols accompanied by a 12-piece brass band.
The civil ceremony was conducted at Buckinghamshire Golf Club, just outside the village early in the afternoon.
They continued the celebrations at Lindsay's home in Denham where the family hosted a New Years Eve party.
The groom described it as "the party of a lifetime". The newlyweds will head to Marrakesh in Morocco on Wednesday for their honeymoon.
While holidaying they will leave behind their two children, Samuel, 7, and Jamie, 3, who attended their parent's nuptials.
Lindsay's daughter Sydney, 18, from his relationship with actress Diana Weston was also present at her father's wedding.
This is Lindsay's second marriage. He was briefly wed to his Citizen Smith co-star Cheryl Hall in the seventies. During the eighties he had a relationship with Katherine Hepburn and went to Broadway in New York with Me and My Girl.
