America... it’s the land of the Friel

Unlike many British actresses, Anna Friel has always remained firmly committed to furthering her career in her homeland.

But even Anna has been unable to completely ignore the bright lights of Hollywood – and next month she's packing her bags and heading to Los Angeles to star in a TV comedy drama series called Pushing Daisies.

Producers on the show, about a man with the power to bring dead people back to life so he can solve crimes, lured the 31-year-old actress with a six-figure deal.

Unfortunately, Anna will have to leave behind her actor boyfriend David Thewlis, the father of her 18-month-old daughter Gracie.

It's going to be exciting but tough because David is currently filming in Budapest and can't come to LA for a while - she said at the O2 Wireless music festival. It's an amazing part to have got – I'll be there for about nine months.'
