Angelina's film tattoos inspired by stirring words of Sir Winston Churchill

As our country’s great wartime leader, Sir Winston Churchill has received too many tributes to count.
But he’s never been commemorated quite like this before.
Angelina Jolie has revealed that two of the tattoos she acquired for her latest film Wanted – about a secret society of assassins who try to make the world a better place – are a homage to the Second World War Prime Minister.
Inking man's pin-up: Angelina as Fox in the film Wanted, sporting tattoos she says were inspired by the words of wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill
The words in gothic script on her upper arms come from a speech Sir Winston made on the day he took office in 1940.
In an interview for US television, Miss Jolie said: ‘We tried to focus the tattoos on themes that would be related to this sense of justice.
‘From Churchill’s speech, “We have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat,” I had “Toil” and “Tears”.’
For Miss Jolie, playing a trained killer called Fox in Wanted was a welcome relief from the usual experience of having her own extensive collection of body art covered up.
Coordinated: Angelina has the grid references of the birth places of her four children - Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh - on her left arm
‘Instead of taking mine away, which we have to do in every film, we ended up leaving mine and adding more,’ she said.
‘I have “Strength of Will” in one language, and we added it in four other languages on my arm.
‘“Know Your Rights” is printed in English on the back of my neck, and again in Latin as well.’
If the new additions have left her craving something more permanent, Miss Jolie might not have long to wait.
Revealed: Brad Pitt and Angelina on the red carpet at a film premiere. The star's extensive body art is usually covered up in her film roles
After the birth of her twins in the next few weeks, she will have the map co-ordinates of their place of birth tattooed on her upper arm.
She already has grid references for her four older children – Maddox, six; Pax, four; Zahara, three; and Shiloh, two.
And while it might seem that the idea of having some of his most stirring words end up as a tattoo would horrify Sir Winston, that’s not necessarily the case.
There have been persistent rumours that his mother, racy American heiress Jennie Jerome, had a dragon inked on her wrist.
Sadly, no photos exist to prove or disprove the theory.
Homage: The words the Tomb Raider star chose for her tattoos came from a speech Sir Winston Churchill made on the day he took office in 1940
