Anna Friel turns heads at LA fashion show

Rave reviews: Anna Friel has won critical acclaim in the US for her role in the supernatural series Pushing Daisies
British actress Anna Friel was the star attraction at the 7th Annual Awards Season Diamond Fashion Show Preview in Los Angeles last night.

Friel – who looked stunning in a black satin skirt and pattern blouse – has been enjoying critical acclaim in the US for her role as Chuck in the supernatural series Pushing Daisies.

The former Brookside star was nominated for a Golden Globe for best TV comedy actress alongside Ugly Betty's America Ferrera - the awards show has since been cancelled.

31-year-old Friel plays a murder victim who is brought back to life by her childhood sweetheart, her performance has received rave reviews.

Friel has now re-located to Los Angeles with her two-year-old daughter Gracie and partner David Thewlis:

"It used to scare me when I came out for meetings. You've got to sign six-year contracts - but this one I couldn't refuse.

"If you want to succeed and do the big stuff, you have to move there." She said recently.

She does admit to being homesick and confessed last month that she was dreading her first Christmas in the US:

"I miss my mum and dad massively. I've never, ever not had a Christmas at home with my parents and LA seems the wrong environment for it." She said.

Pushing Daisies is set to air on ITV in late March.

Hit factor: Anna (third from left) plays Chuck in Pushing Daisies which will be screened on ITV later this year
