Anne Diamond's journey: From golden girl of breakfast TV to selling jewellery on QVC

Now, Anne Diamond is back on our screens ... selling jewellery for a shopping channel.

The former queen of breakfast television is promoting her own range on QVC, with the ornate 9-carat gold and diamond pieces costing between £103 and £628.

Ms Diamond's vintage-style designs are a far cry from the bold geometric fashions she sported on the sofa at TV-am in her Eighties heyday.

Her most expensive item is a diamond-studded bangle, while shoppers can also buy an Anne Diamond-designed domed ring with an intricate swirling decoration in 0.50-carat jewels or 0.1-carat stud earrings.

Ms Diamond, 53, has been heavily involved in the development of the range and is appearing on the channel every few weeks in special dedicated slots extolling the virtues of her jewellery to viewers.

She is not the only celebrity to put her name to a range on QVC. TV personality Tamara Beckwith and comedienne Joan Rivers have also collaborated with the channel for their own jewellery lines.

At the peak of her career, Ms Diamond was the toast of ITV after she joined TV-am and revived the ailing station's fortunes - along with co-presenter Nick Owen and the puppet Roland Rat.

She teamed up with Owen again in 1992 for BBC1's Good Morning . . . With Anne And Nick, until the show was axed in 1996.

The cot death of third son Sebastian in 1991 prompted her to champion a campaign encouraging parents to place babies on their backs for sleeping, thereby reducing the risk of the killer syndrome.

But her TV career slowly shuddered to a halt as the decade wore on and Ms Diamond was left to tackle her own growing emotional difficulties.

A rollercoaster of rapid weight gain followed by dieting mirrored the ups and downs of her private life after her marriage to TV executive Mike Hollingsworth collapsed in 1998.

A brief return to daytime TV in 2000 - heading Carlton lunchtime programme Live Talk - failed and she fell back on presenting jobs in regional radio.

Ms Diamond worked on London's LBC and later BBC Radio Oxford where she took the opportunity to plug her advice website for dieters, Buddy Power.

She was last seen on our screens walking out of ITV's Celebrity Fit Club after her fellow contestants criticised her for failing to declare that she had a gastric band fitted to restrict her food intake.

The publicity the row generated led to the discovery that the band had not been properly attached.

A second operation was carried out to correct the problem.

The star has now battled back to her Eighties weight.
