Branson was on boisterous form as Chile beat England 9-8. The 21-year-old Virgin heir entertained himself by pitching pieces of fruit from his Pimm's onto members of the audience in front of him. A chip off the old paternal block perhaps, as father Richard never cared much for old-fashioned authority.
Singleton: Jemima Khan shunned male company
Interior designer Nicky Haslam surprised guests by sporting a bowler hat and Old Etonian tie, announcing he was off to Russia for a party with Mick Jagger before returning two hours later in a lilac bomber jacket saying the trip was off as he had taken the wrong passport.
Actors watching the drama were Alice Eve - daughter of Trevor Eve and current partner of Rufus Sewell - Pierce Brosnan and Bill Nighy. Keira Knightley's ex, Calvin Klein model Jamie Dornan, and Caprice - who was spotted in conversation with broadcaster Andrew Neil - added a touch of catwalk glamour.
Supermodel Sophie Anderton could be heard in a rage after staff on the gates at turned her away.
Meanwhile singleton Jemima Khan was keeping a low profile and shunning any male company.
The merriment ended early at 11.30pm because of noise restrictions following last year's event when £150,000 worth of fireworks were set off at once, causing mayhem to local wildlife.
