Apprentice loser chases TV career

Apprentice loser Naomi Lay is hoping to launch a TV career. The 26-year-old was bitten by the presenting bug when she took part in last night's shopping channel task.

Despite her best efforts, her team lost after trying to flog a foldable wheelchair.

Naomi worked as an advertising sales manager in London before applying for the BBC1 show.

She said: "My old company has kept my job open for me and they have been really supportive.

"But the reason I applied for The Apprentice was to figure out what I'm good at and what I'm bad at, and to learn new things about myself.

"I really enjoyed the creative side of the tasks and I absolutely loved the TV presenting task, so I'd like to explore that. The presenting was brilliant and I'm very confident talking to people."

Naomi, originally from Cornwall, studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and spent time in Sierra Leone before joining the show.

She said: "I'm very career-hungry, very driven, and working for Sir Alan would have been an amazing experience.

"But Sir Alan and I are massive opposites - I'm quite a fluffy person and he's definitely not. I don't think I deserved to go based on my performance in this one task, but it's up to Sir Alan to choose who he wants as his apprentice."

Naomi said she was shocked at the way Katie Hopkins laid into her fellow contestants.

Katie's nasty comments have made her the Apprentice wannabe viewers love to hate.

"I don't necessarily agree with bitchiness and airing dirty laundry in public. I'm very disappointed by Katie's behaviour," Naomi said.

"I had no idea whatsoever that she was making all these horrible comments to the cameras. I was made aware that she compared me to a Labrador - but at least she didn't wish me dead which she did with other people.

"It's a real shame that someone who actually is very professional thinks it's necessary to behave like that. And it's sad because I would have kept in touch with her before I realised what she was like."

There are now just five candidates left to battle it out for a £100,000-a-year job with Sir Alan.
