It won't wash: the moment Anita Shah was fired on TV
Sir Alan Sugar's adviser Nick Hewer said that although the girls spent a fortune on products, they wasted money buying the wrong kind. The fiasco caused the first reject, Anita Shah, to be told: "You're Fired!" after she congratulated the girls' team, Ignite, for being "in budget" despite blowing nearly all the £200 allocated.
Mr Hewer said: "What the cameras didn't show you last night was that amid all the buffers and polishes the girls decided they needed to clean a car, I spied a can of oven cleaner. They assured me they didn't use it, but it was worrying."
Today Miss Shah, a corporate lawyer, said the three words she said about the cleaning products on the BBC show, "money well-spent", would haunt her for the rest of her life. The 35-year-old told BBC Breakfast: "I gave myself the kiss of death." She claimed she should not have been fired, but was not cut-throat enough to stitch up her rivals.
