Apprentice star 'protecting' Michelle from media

The Apprentice bad boy Syed Ahmed says that he is trying to protect his pregnant on-screen rival Michelle Dewberry from media pressure.
He says some of the stories that have appeared about their relationship are ridiculous, but hurtful.

Ahmed, 31, told GMTV: "Of course we are together and these are exciting times, but at the same time I think Michelle is having quite a complex pregnancy.

"I'm trying to protect her and keep her covered as much as possible. At first we tried to keep it as private as possible, but it's impossible."
He added: "Don't believe everything you read because that is the bit you don't factor in, tabloids, and every week it's a different story."

The pair met last year while battling for a £100,000-a-year job with Sir Alan Sugar in the second series of the BBC2 reality TV show.
Dewberry, 26, walked away with the prized role and the contestants' fiercely competitive exploits were broadcast earlier this year.

Sir Alan gave her a job as head of his new firm Xenon Green, which disposes of unwanted computer equipment, but it emerged last month that she had fallen pregnant.

Ahmed has been caught up in controversy since appearing on the reality TV show. Eight days ago it emerged that he had been questioned by police on suspicion of involvement with a money-laundering scam.

The self-styled entrepreneur, from London's East End, was arrested in Chingford, east London, and later released on police bail.

He was also recently handed a suspended jail sentence after being caught drink-driving for the fourth time. Magistrates ordered him to attend alcohol counselling.

Ahmed will return to TV this autumn when he joins 80 celebrities hoping to win a place in a celebrity football squad in The Match, to be broadcast on Sky One.
