Most people would probably not admit it. But Princes William and Harry enjoy reality TV shows Pop Idol and X Factor.

William also thinks his younger brother's music taste used to be 'pretty shocking', although they like the same things now, he said in a TV interview with Ant and Dec.

The royals also discussed their cooking skills and teased their interviewers about having former careers as pop stars.

William, 23, added: 'We like the same sort of things on TV, although there is usually an argument over the remote at home - about who watches what. That usually goes on for quite a while.' Harry added: 'Friends is always a safe bet.' Pop Idol presenter Ant McPartlin then asked: 'So, you mentioned you watched X Factor, did you watch Pop Idol as well?'.

Harry, pointing to William, said: 'He won't admit to it but we did both watch it - especially the American Pop Idol.'

The conversation then turned to I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, which McPartlin and Declan Donnelly present.

Interrupting a suggestion they might like to be future contestants on the show, 21-year-old Harry quipped: 'You can chuck Simon Cowell in there with his high-waisted trousers.'

The Prince of Wales also joined his sons for the light-hearted chat to mark the 30th anniversary of The Prince's Trust.

Asked how important they were in keeping him in touch with today's fashions, the 57-year-old Leonard Cohen fan said: 'I'm sure they think they are very important. Ha!

'No, I do. They are very good at keeping me in touch with what's going on. I mean, particularly on a music front.'

The interview will be shown on ITV1 tomorrow night.
