A-list flocks to Elton's bash

Liz Hurley arrives for the ball

Royalty rubbed shoulders with Baywatch babes and footballers' wives at Sir Elton John's 'White Tie and Tiara' charity bash last night.

Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice joined the likes of Pamela Anderson, Louise Redknapp and George Michael at Sir Elton's sprawling Old Windsor estate.

Other guests included Liz Hurley, Natalie Imbruglia, Kate Moss, Simon Cowell and Traci Bingham.

A procession of Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Ferraris and Range Rovers caused a traffic jam in the normally quiet Berkshire countryside as A-list celebrities prepared to party the night away.

The party, held annually to raise money for Sir Elton's Aids foundation, had a giant white marquee as its centrepiece.

The event was Indian themed this year and the hypnotic sounds of sitars and tabla drums boomed out across the grounds of Sir Elton's mansion.

Many of those attending dressed in saris and Bollywood garb, and guests were treated to a six-course Indian feast.

They were entertained by not so-boy band Take That - who it was rumoured were due to be joined on stage by former member Robbie Williams.

Perhaps anticipating an outbreak of Delhi belly, an ambulance was on call in the mansion's car park.

The caterer for the event was Rhubarb, which laid on the food for the Beckhams' lavish pre-World cup party.

Hosts Sir Elton and David Furnish married in a civil ceremony six months ago.
