Upset: Nikki couldn't believe that Pete finished their relationship over the phone

Nikki 'destroyed' by Pete break-up

Updated 00:22am on 26 Sep 2006

Big Brother's Nikki Grahame says she has been 'destroyed' by co-star Pete Bennett's decision to break up with her.

The pair got together before Tourette's sufferer Pete, 24, won the Channel 4 reality show and its £100,000 top prize.

But he eventually dumped the screeching blonde, saying she was too "high maintenance" and kept insulting his friends.

Nikki, 24, tells New! magazine she was upset that he finished their relationship over the phone.

"I can't believe he's done this to me", she said.

"What upset me most is that he couldn't tell me how he felt when we were together or what I was doing wrong.

"He didn't even call me to tell me that it was over. I had to call him.

"I texted him the night before we split to ask him how he was and tell him I was missing him, and he ignored me.

"Then I called him and he ignored me. In the end, I had to call him from my mum's house so he wouldn't recognise the number."

She said: "He's made me feel like a piece of s***, a horrid person. I've struggled with self-hatred all my life and now I've read all the stuff him and his friends have been saying about me, I hate myself even more.

"He's hurt me more than any guy has ever hurt me.

"He's the last person in the world that I expected to hurt me. Pete wouldn't hurt an insect but he's totally destroyed me."

She said: "I love Pete unconditionally. No-one's ever made me feel like him. He understood me. Well, I thought he did.

"I'm really battling to build up my confidence again. My mum thinks I've been publicly humiliated."

Pete recently said the final straw came when Nikki said his friend's home in Brighton smelt 'doggy-woggies'.

He said: "Her behaviour made me embarrassed. She was saying the place smelt 'doggy-woggies' and spraying perfume everywhere."

He also said: "She was never really interested, whereas my sex drive is very high."

When will Channel 4 realise that Nikki should go head to head with Supernanny? Surely the only way to tame this toddler is to use the same tactics as you would on a real one!

The sooner nikki (and the rest of the BB lot) disappear from our lives the better! I am a fan of the show but am I alone in thinking that as soon as they get evicted/the show finishes I NEVER want to see or hear from them again?

I do not agree with any of you. I think Pete was FAKE and used Nikki. He broke up with her over the phone and has dropped his band as well, does that not tell you something about the man! He played all the women in the house and once he knew how popular Nikki was she was the one he stuck to. He was so desperate to win that he went on about this spiral he was meant to have seen and also said that he was giving the money to his mom - a sure way of winning public votes. Why doesn't anyone ever take Nikki's medical condition into consideration, OCD can be very serious. There is NOTHING perfect about Pete, didn't anyone else wise up to his game playing? I hope Nikki finds a SINCERE person, she deserves better that Pete. He is a user!

This 'poor me' attitute is wearing thin.
Everyone has to take responsibility for their own actions and her behaviour is inexcusable. Time she grew up.
Well done Pete, may you find the right girl for you.

I don't think Nikki will get much sympathy. Everyone can see how uncontrollable she was. Yes she may have deep psychological problems, but her atttitude, complete disregard for other's feeling and tantrums are inexcusable. Well done Pete - you deserve better.

Well done Pete, it took a while to sink in that Nikki was very high maintainence. To be blunt they never really looked like a couple - but hey there you go.
