Happy families: Brad and Angelina with Maddox and Zahara

Hollywood star Brad Pitt has announced plans to have more children – and joked how he wants enough to make up his own football team.

The Ocean's Eleven star hopes to have three more children next year and eventually produce a team of 11 to compete in the next World Cup.

Pitt became a father for the first time four months ago when girlfriend Angelina Jolie gave birth to their daughter Shiloh.

The couple, who fell for each other in 2005 when they made comedy thriller Mr and Mrs Smith, also have two adopted children, five-year-old Maddox and 14-month-old Zahara.

Pitt, 42, told the Daily Mirror: "I'm not joking around. I have three kids now and next year I'll have six. Nine. We're looking for a soccer team. I want to compete in the next World Cup."

And he hopes that if David Beckham's Real Madrid contract is not renewed, he could hire him to give Maddox one-on-one coaching.

The actor, whose four-year marriage to Friends star Jennifer Aniston ended last year, added that becoming a father had made his life run much more smoothly.

"It makes you much more efficient because you do everything faster," he joked.

"There's no time for messing around. I still value the work I do, but at the same time I value more getting home to my kids. It somehow makes my work mean more because I know somewhere down the road that my kids will see it. That is the way I approach everything now."

Brad pitt just wants a soccer team not a family.

- Zahra, Iran

It takes 9 months Jo - bless!

- Bill, London

These two are a disgrace! Neither one understands the concept of a family. You have a cheating husband and a woman who won't speak to her father, namely because he cheated on her mother, amongst other things. It goes round and round. I wish they would just go away.

- Erica, USA

Ahh we all love Brad, but does he realise it takes 10 months just to have 1 baby! Bless him.

- Jo, London

I'm with Patricia on that one!

- Alx, Hertford, UK

I'll have Brad's babys if Angelina gets tired...

- Patricia, Foley

Eight more? Easy for him to say - how many has he carred in his womb? Ouch. I think he wants to be known as the man who ruined the looks of the most beautiful girl in the world.
