Britney is US's worst dressed
Updated 12:36pm on 10 Jan 2007Oops ... Britney Spears has done it again. For the second year running she has topped US fashion critic Mr Blackwell's worst-dressed list.
The pop star was named joint worst-dressed celebrity along with hotel heiress Paris Hilton by the self-appointed style guru.
Spears and Hilton, who forged a friendship at Hollywood and Las Vegas nightclubs last year, were described by Blackwell as "style-free and fashion deprived."
Spears, whose fashion choices made headlines in late 2006 when photographs of her stepping out of cars showed she wasn't wearing underwear, has been a favourite target of Blackwell for the past six years.
Blackwell made no direct reference to the singer's underwear choices, but described Spears and Hilton as "two peas in an overexposed pod."
In Blackwell's 47th annual report, Camilla Parker-Bowles was placed an ignominious second as the "duchess of dowdy" and a "royal wreck" because of her penchant for feathered hats.
Blackwell put Freaky Friday actress Lindsay Lohan in third place, calling her "tragically trapped in fashion's fast lane."
Singers Christina Aguilera ("all crass, no class") and Mariah Carey ("queen of catastrophic kitsch") came in fourth and fifth.
"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul, and actresses Sharon Stone, Tori Spelling and Sandra Oh, were also deemed fashion fiascoes, while Blackwell said Meryl Streep's wardrobe made him want to weep.
Blackwell's list has become a Hollywood tradition over the decades, poking fun at icons ranging from the Queen to Elizabeth Taylor. Blackwell was one of the top Los Angeles designers of the 1960s, creating fashions for the likes of Jayne Mansfield, Peggy Lee and Nancy Reagan.
He urged the women on his 2006 list to emulate "fabulous fashion independents" like Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren, Barbra Streisand and Beyonce Knowles.
Blackwell's worst-dressed women of 2006 are:
1) Britney Spears/Paris Hilton
2) Camilla Parker-Bowles
3) Lindsay Lohan
4) Christina Aguilera
5) Mariah Carey
6) Paula Abdul
7) Sharon Stone
8) Tori Spelling
9) Sandra Oh
10)Meryl Streep

Totally agree about The Duchess but then, will she ever really be considered "a Royal" by anyone. Mr.Blackwell may at times be over the top and even rude but he cannot be questioned on this one. He has simply stated the truth as an observer of factual evidence. My description would be a very uninteresting woman with no taste in either husbands or clothing. She is perhaps, as second hand as her wardrobe appears to be and is best ignored.

Britney's latest escapades, out and about wearing no underwear have done her no favours. I think people forget she's just a young girl, leave her be and let her wear what she wants. She's not harming anyone!

She has been a looking a bit of mess lately, fair enough she's a young mum but she is also someone that young girls look up to also. She used to have such style and looked great but she's slipped up of late.
