Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty will swap one famously rowdy House for another today - when she watches Prime Minister's question time at the Commons.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner - whose treatment by fellow contestants caused a serious race row - is also to meet senior Cabinet ministers.

She won 63% of the show's final public vote after alleged racist bullying prompted a record number of complaints - more than 40,000 - to media watchdog Ofcom.

Her visit to Parliament has been organised by Labour's Keith Vaz, who tabled a motion complaining about the Channel 4 show that was signed by nearly 90 fellow MPs.

Shilpa, who has denied her fellow housemates were racist, is due to meet Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell and Commons leader Jack Straw during her day at Westminster.

Mr Straw demanded an urgent investigation of the programme at the time of the controversial footage being shown.

Mr Vaz said: "I am delighted Shilpa accepted my invitation. I know she will get a very warm reception.

"It will be her first visit to the House of Commons and the first opportunity for many MPs to meet her.

"MPs will be pleased to hear about all the excellent charitable works she is supporting in order to combat Aids in India."

Ms Shetty will later visit Leicester, where Mr Vaz is MP, to launch a charitable foundation and meet fans at a community centre.
