Actress Angelina Jolie introduced newly-adopted son Pax Thien to the world today in a magazine photoshoot.

The three-year-old Vietnamese boy is pictured in Hello! magazine with his new siblings.

He is seen playing by a swimming pool with sister Zahara, two, and snuggled up in bed with five-year-old brother Maddox.

Jolie left Vietnam with Pax Thien today on a private Gulfstream jet bound for the US after the little boy was granted a visa.

There he will be introduced to Jolie's partner Brad Pitt and baby Shiloh.

The Tomb Raider star told Hello!: "He is a very serious, very sweet little boy.

"We are slowly beginning to build his trust and bond but it will feel complete only when we are all a family.

"You can imagine what courage it takes to be in all new surroundings with new people and a new language. He is very strong.

"It will take him a while to realise he has a family; that his new life is permanent and it won't keep changing."

Jolie has given Pax Thien a Gameboy as one of his first presents. "He has never had anything to call his own," she explained.

The photographs were taken at the Hyatt Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, where Jolie stayed while the adoption process was completed.

Pax Thien had been living at the Tam Binh orphanage on the outskirts of the city since he was abandoned as in infant.

Jolie and Pitt made a surprise trip to Vietnam last November to choose the latest addition to their family.

The actress adopted Maddox from Cambodia and Zahara from Ethiopia. Shiloh, her daughter by Pitt, was born last year.

Jolie filed adoption papers for Pax Thien as a single parent because she and Pitt are not married.
