Life's a peach as Geldof's wild-child girl turns 18

Playing the clown: Bob Geldof arrives for the celebrations

Ah, 24 hours is such a long time in a young girl's life, isn't it?

It was only yesterday that Peaches Geldof was telling the world how she was a reformed character; how instead of partying like crazy every night she was staying in to study for her A-levels.

And the girl in these pictures? The one who was larging it up with her celebrity mates until 3.30am when she slipped out the back to avoid the photographers? Yes, it's Peaches.

But at least she had an excuse for staying out late - it was her 18th birthday bash.

Even Dad was there, although onlookers could have been forgiven for failing to recognise Saint Bob, who appeared to be dressed as some kind of clown. Either that, or he is trying out a new tailor.

The circus-themed party - Peaches' younger sister Pixie, 16, turned up as a top-hatted ringmaster - was held at the Eve Club in Mayfair.

Guests included Noel Fielding from The Mighty Boosh and a clutch of indie-rocker types, from Klaxons and Mystery Jets to Patrick Wolf and Bono Must Die.

One person who was not at the party was Abi Titmuss, who happened to be outside filming the ITV reality show Deadline and wasn't on the guest list at all. Poor Abi.

Still, she needn't fret: staying in is the new going out. We know, because Peaches told us.

This is what the retired wild child - she actually turned 18 a couple of weeks ago - told Grazia magazine: "When I look back I realise I was a bit mad going out every night to whatever party. I used to be a wild child, but since turning 18 I've decided to change."

Peaches - who in between studying for her A-levels at a private school in west London is making a name for herself as one half of a DJ double act called Trash Pussies - is planning to go to New York to study journalism.
