Perhaps it's a little too figure-hugging, Kate?
Updated 06:53am on 13 Jun 2007Kate Winslet has always been proud of her curves, but perhaps squeezing herself into this black number was not the best way to show them off to the full.
Instead of flattering her feminine shape, the figure-hugging dress gave the appearance that the British actress had gained a few pounds.
Perhaps it was the side ruching which invariably drew the eye towards the hips, or the folds of black silk which appeared to widen the star from the waist down.
The mother-of-two's fluctuating weight has been the source of much speculation. In 2002, she looked noticeably slimmer, but has always said she is happy with her figure.
Miss Winslet, 31, was heading out to the Lancôme party at the Rodin Museum in Paris, where she was revealed as the new face of the cosmetics firm.
She also brought a touch of East End style to Paris by sporting a pair of titanic chandelier earrings that could have been snatched straight from Pat Butcher's jewellery box.
She will front the campaign for Tresor perfume, taking over from Isabella Rossellini.
Speaking about her new role, she said: "I didn't feel that I was just being asked to be the face of something. It was me as a person (and my message to women) about being real in who you are and comfortable in your skin."

What planet are you on? She looks stunning! She looks slim and healthy a fantastic example to any woman. I feel like I need to diet if that is your idea of chunky!

I have to agree with all the other comments. She looks absolutely fabulous here. Beautiful, elegant, shapely and sexy. I think you will find that any shapely figure requires the shoulders and the hips to be a similar width. Not the top heavy, silicon boosted top and tom boy hips look that lots of people seem to think of as shapely. It's not it's an exaggeration of the barbie doll look. Kate looks lovely in that photograph.

She looks fantastic, sexy, curvy and feminine - my husband loves her because he likes real women not little boyish figures! What are you on about?! Stop it!

What is the problem here? Kate looks fantastic! Why oh why do we always want to put more pressure on women? It seems we can't win and neither can the celebs - they are either too thin triple size zero or they've put on a few poinds. And who wrote this article? Perhaps they should get their eyes tested. Quickly, because next you'll be saying Nicole Richie is fat.

Agree with all three comments above. She looks fantastic and obviously Lancome think so too. This constant harping about celebrities' weights is really annoying. If they're too thin, they gets slated, Kate Winslet photographed supposedly looking like she's "gained a few pounds" and it becomes newsworthy! Enough already.

What's the fuss? I think she looks fine. Leave her alone.

What is this article talking about? She looks fine, and certainly not "widened" from the waist down. Nice work on continuing to make women feel self-conscious about their weight.
