Prince Harry's girlfriend Chelsy Davy had a police escort as she arrived in Britain to attend the Concert for Diana.

At Heathrow the 21-year-old student was met off the plane by a plainclothes and a uniformed officer. More police waited in the baggage hall to ensure her smooth passage last night.

Dressed in ripped jeans and a white top, she was snapped by photographers as she strode through Terminal 4, her head down.

Royal support: Chelsy Davy arriving at Heathrow

She was greeted by a girlfriend near Customs and the officers whisked them through the terminal to a chauffeurdriven 4x4.

The size of the security squad and the attention she received underlined the seriousness of her relationship with Prince Harry, third in line to the throne.

Miss Davy is expected to stay in Britain for at least a week and will join Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton at Sunday's concert at Wembley Stadium.

Among stars at the event, which marks the 10th anniversary of Diana's death, will be Sir Elton John, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone, Lily Allen, Anastacia, Andrea Bocelli and Donny Osmond.

A medley of musicals has been arranged for the event by Lord Lloyd-Webber Sunday would have been the Princess's 46th birthday.

The line-up reflects favourites of both her and Princes William and Harry.

In recognition of Diana's love of ballet, the concert will include a performance by the English National Ballet, accompanied by the English National Ballet Orchestra.
