In advance of her long-awaited foray into the unknown world - to her - of charitable work, Paris Hilton forges on with what she does best - making the most of her celebrity to make money.

The LA native got glammed up to promote her new line of hair extensions, all in the name of earning a crust.

Golden girl: Paris Hilton is using her celebrity to launch a new venture, her own line of hair extensions

Billed as the 'world's greatest hair extensions', Paris has teamed up with company DreamCatchers to launch her own line of hair extensions, which she is reported to wear 'day and night'.

The hotel heiress will be in direct competition with singer Jessica Simpson, who also has her own hair extension line, so the two girls will battle it out to see which are more popular.

Working girl: Paris has a deal with company DreamCatchers to promote their hair extensions and she will also launch her own denim line for top store Macy's

In the heavily airbrushed photos, a pouting Paris lounges seductively, with an impressive mane of her trademark blonde extensions fanning out onto a silken sheet.

The hotel heiress has been kept busy extending her business empire, in the weeks following her release from prison after serving 23 days in prison for driving with a suspended licence.

As yet there is no sign she has begun her involvement with the charity work she said she was keen to do when released.

Jail row: An investigation has been launched into allegations she received special treatment in jail

She recently flew to San Francisco to meet with executives from Macy's department store to discuss the launch of her new denim line.

A source said: "The reaction from Macy's was amazing. They'll be on sale as soon as possible."

Paris, 26, was thought to be wearing one of her new designs - a pair of dark and skinny jeans with diamante along the outer leg seam - when she left jail last month.

Meanwhile, 'The Simple Life' star and her father Rick are said to have upset family friend Barbara Walters by choosing money over loyalty.

The co-presenter of ABC's 'The View' was in contact with Paris while she was in jail and expected to get the first exclusive post-prison interview.

However, the socialite spoke to NBC's Larry King after they offered her $1 million.

Veteran journalist Barbara said: "I kind of figured I'd get the interview. It turns out there were other considerations.

Unfortunately for Paris, criticism she received special treatment during her 23 day stay in jail won't go away, and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department announced it has opened an investigation into allegations.

The internal probe centres on a number of claims which alleged she had been given free access to a cordless phone instead of being forced to wait in line to use a pay phone at certain hours, she received a new jail uniform instead of the recycled ones given to many inmates and that her mail was delivered by a captain instead of inmate trusties, said Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

According to the Los Angeles Times website, allegations were brought to the attention of the department's union, the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, by its members.

Whitmore said:"We're going to investigate it and get to the bottom of it and find out exactly what happened," he said.

The department was also accused of granting Hilton special treatment when Sheriff Lee Baca released the 26-year-old from jail after only three days for medical reasons.
