Bored like Beckham: Posh fails to crack a smile as David finally scores for Galaxy

Updated 08:38am on 17 Aug 2007

Weeks after their much-hyped arrival in the US, with his debut delayed due to a pesky ankle injury, David Beckham finally scored for team LA Galaxy - but wife Victoria remained strangely unmoved.

A bored-looking Victoria clapped politely as David and his teammates wildly celebrated his first goal for the Los Angeles Major League Soccer Team which helped secure their place in the SuperLiga final.

Bored like Posh: Posh fails to crack a smile as husband David finally scores from a trademark free kick for team Galaxy

Brooklyn celebrates in wild football fanatic fashion unlike his cool mother Posh

Victoria's blank reaction was in stark contrast to son Brooklyn, who grabbed hold of a pal to celebrate in typical football fanatic fashion.

Maybe Posh doesn't find football as 'major' as the other aspects of her new life in Los Angeles.

She recently said she was "loving" her new Beverly Hills home in the first update on her website blog since she moved in, and described their £11million mansion as "totally major".

That's my Daddy: A proud Brooklyn shows his appreciation for dad David

It was the first time David had been included in the starting line-up since the Beckhams much-hyped move to America. He had played just 37 minutes in two previous games since he joined the Major League Soccer team on July 13 because of a nagging left ankle injury.

He had even missed two games prompting boos from fans hoping to see the former England captain and world's most famous footballer actually play.

The 32-year-old England midfielder, who was named captain for the match, curled home a trademark free-kick after 28 minutes to give the Galaxy the lead.

Cue wild celebrations with Beckham mobbed by team-mates including goalkeeper Joe Cannon, who ran across more than half the pitch to hug him. Blue, gold and white confetti fluttered through the air, as Beckham waved to the crowd in acknowledgement.

He scores: An estatic David Beckham shows his joy at scoring for team Galaxy

Wearing his number 23 shirt, David was greeted with a roar from the crowd at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California, as he took to the pitch.

But it wasn't all plain sailing, as he received a yellow card in the 18th minute for a foul on United's Jaime Moreno.

Hopefully Posh might summon on a tad more enthusiasm the next time her multimillion dollar husband scores.

Who cares? Soccer has been limping around on a respirator for years in this country.
