Revealed: The secret criminal past of Amy Winehouse's in-laws

The parents-in-law of Amy Winehouse, who have been busy giving interview after interview decrying the troubled singer's wayward ways, are guilty of some anti-social behaviour of their own.

For headmaster Giles Civil and his wife Georgette were involved in a furious incident on a village school's football pitch.

And they were convicted of using disorderly behaviour, or threatening abusive and assaulting words likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The couple married in Miami in May - seemingly on a whim in a £60 ceremony

The case, at Grantham Magistrates Court in Lincolnshire, took place just three days after Georgette's son, Blake Fielder-Civil, 25, married 23-year-old Amy in a surprise ceremony in Florida in May.

And it has left other family members and neighbours wondering how entitled the couple are to lecture Amy and Blake.

Mr Civil has urged fans to boycott Amy's records and warned she and his stepson Blake could end up dead like punk-rock drug addicts Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen.

But the court heard how the Civils were not exactly model citizens themselves when they threatened the assistant manager of their village junior football team, Neil Swaby, and his wife Jane.

The trouble erupted as Mr Swaby, a 40-year-old engineer, was training youngsters, aged between six and 11, on the pitch at Claypole village Church of England School, near Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Mr and Mrs Civil stormed on to the touchline and berated Mr Swaby for telling off their youngest son. Then Georgette hit him across the face with a bunch of car keys.

The couple were found guilty by the magistrates and were given a one-year conditional discharge. Mr Swaby told The Mail on Sunday: "The problem is that Giles and Georgette blame everyone else."

Giles told radio listeners last week it was not Blake's fault that Amy was taking drugs and blamed her career and her record company for their problems.

"But the Civils are in denial. The problem is that they can't believe their children can do anything wrong."

He said he had been challenged and threatened by the couple on the three separate occasions he had told off their son on the pitch.

A tender moment for Amy and Blake on holiday in St Lucia this week

"The first time Giles and Georgette stormed around to my house and told me not to rebuke him.

"The next time I told him off they came round again.

"But on the third occasion they came storming up to the playing field where I was taking football practice with dozens of children and there was a terrible row in front of the parents and everyone else. Georgette hit me in the face with her car keys.

"The problem is they can't accept that their children aren't perfect, and I think that since Blake married Amy they have been carried away with their celebrity status."

Meanwhile, Blake's natural father, Lance Fielder, said both Blake and Amy were taking drugs before they met.

He added: "Giles is a teacher and he would not normally be able to afford the lifestyle he sees Amy and Blake living, so his views are coloured.

"Amy and Blake are both adults and are responsible for their own actions."

Furious Georgette Civil refused to discuss the convictions. Leaning out of the window of her white stucco-fronted cottage she shouted: "We are not talking about that. Go away," before slamming the window shut.
