X Factor Rhydian Roberts reduces Dannii Minogue to tears (again)
Last updated at 21:37pm on 25.11.07X Factor's Rhydian Roberts dreamed of being an international rugby player - despite his slight appearance and reducing judge Dannii Minogue to tears on tonight's show.
The 24-year-old Welsh opera singer was described by his coach when he was at school as being a "big powerful centre" although he now dazzles Saturday night audiences with his belting baritone performances.
He stunned ITV viewers when he said: "My dream was to be an international rugby player".

When Rhydian Roberts sang the tearjerker love ballad Somewhere, Dannii Minogue was so overcome with emotion that she burst into tears
When Rhydian sang the tearjerker love ballad Somewhere, which was sung on hit musical West Side Story, Dannii Minogue was so overcome with emotion that she burst into tears - for the second time this series.
She said: "I can't speak that was so beautiful. I felt you were singing it personally to me. It was just incredible."
And judge Louis Walsh said to the bright blond: "You are a true professional and you are definitely going to make the final. You are head and shoulders above everybody."
This week's theme was love songs and it was the first show where none of Sharon's team have performed - as all of them have been given the boot.

Injustice is one thing that really riles me and Leon winning X Factor was and injustice through and through. Voting was the problem. Tried loads of times but only got through twice. How come? Leon seems a nice guy but I have to say he did not deserve to win. He consistently hit a bum note whereas Rhydian was perfect-I could listen to him forever, espacially Somewhere. Roll on the day his album comes out.

I have voted for Rhydian since the beginning as he has the total X-Factor for this show. I cannot belive that he did not win on Saturday. I would love to know the final votes cast as I could not get through at the end due to the phone lines being engaged for a long time. However, with his voice and training he will last much longer in this business than Leon and become a world class entertainer. Come on Simon, sign him up and lets get to hear him soon on CD.

Rhydian is absolutely outstanding. Can't wait to see him on the stage in the West End. He's in a class of his own. Roll on Saturday night for more.

Simply awesome. I had the pleasure to meet RHYDIAN at a sound screening last month and knew he has star quality without a doubt.
Good Luck

Pass the bucket please. Car crash TV for a dumbed down celebrity obsessed society. How many of these people will have mental breakdowns, when they suddenly realise they have no career in showbiz, they were just used to make money from a coach potato public.

I watched this on Saturday - Dannii's tears were so fake - she was doing it all for effect. She pretended to cry after Leon's song as well so it didn't look like she was favouring one of her artists. This show would be much better if the judges were truthful and not fake.

Rhydian was fantastic. His voice is heavenly. I understand why Danii felt so emotional he sang that so beautifully. It's not often we are treated to a real talent with a real voice. He is the reason I am watching X Factor, if he goes then so does my viewing!

Is there a possibility that Rhydian could sing 'Here's to the Heroes. I have a CD of the Greek tenor Mario Frangoulis and feel that it would be a good choice for Rhydian's voice.

RHYDIAN ROBERTS, it would be a travesty if Rhydian did not win this competition, he is fantastic, a great entertainer, professional with a truly wonderful voice, I have watched and enjoyed all the X Factor shows but I have not been as excited over anyone's performance as I have Rhydian's, his Phantom of the Opera was magnificent, so many sides of his personality, his presence, his attributes, have been shown in each of his performances. I now await his records, videos and look forward to seeing him in shows and on the West End. Good Luck Rhydian in winning the X Factor and having a great future.

With a single dessert and just two glasses of wine our bill was kept in check - but the effort of doing so was not much fun
