Cerys 'gutted' that Marc isn't there to greet her as she leaves the jungle

Updated 22:24pm on 30 Nov 2007

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Cerys Matthews admitted she was 'gutted' that jungle sweetheart Marc Bannerman failed to turn up to greet her when she emerged from the jungle.

The Welsh singer was not told that Bannerman would not be there until her post-eviction interview with presenters Ant and Dec.

And at one point when his name was mentioned, Cerys appeared to be looking around for him, but then appeared visibly shaken when finally told the news that love-rat Bannerman had remained in London instead of flying to Australia as he had originally promised.

Braveheart: The singer puts on a brave face as she leaves the jungle - but jungle sweetheart Marc Bannerman fails to keep his promise

In her interview with presenters Ant and Dec, the Welsh singer initially appeared to be ecstatic that she was leaving, claiming she could spend some time with her children before the show's party tomorrow night.

But Cerys's face fell when she found out that Bannerman had chosen not to return to see her, preferring to stay out of the limelight following his break-up with actress Sarah Matravers.

When questioned about her feelings for Marc, Cerys admitted her relationship with him wasn't innocent but that she hoped to spend more time with him in the future.

Gutted: Cerys's excitement soon turns to shock as she is devastated Marc isn't there to greet her

When faced with a video clip of their time in the jungle Cerys said: "Oh shoot - it's not right is it."

"You forget everyone is watching. You forget everything".

Ant and Dec then informed her that Marc had to "sort things out" in London.

"I'm gutted he's not here" Cerys said.

Days after his eviction, Bannerman had told Cerys he would be there in a love letter which brought tears to the singer's eyes.

Saying her goodbyes before her interview, Cerys is still hopeful

Bannerman's letter, read out on air, said: "There are many problems in London and I have had to go back to try to sort them out but I may well return to greet you when you come out, if that is your wish, Marc."

Cerys and Marc flirted up a storm on the show, causing a stir as Bannerman was already heavily involved with Matravers, his girlfriend of two years.

Their on-screen romance resulted in his eviction and he eventually moved out of the home he shared with Matravers after claiming he was "in love with two women."
