She may be better known for playing perfectionist housewife Bree, but there was nothing uptight about Marcia Cross when she spent the afternoon with her twin babies.

The Desperate Housewives star took a break from her busy filming schedule to spend some quality time in the park with her one-year-old girls Eden and Savannah.

Marcia, 46, make-up free and wearing her hair down, looked laid-back and relaxed as she played with the twins in Santa Monica on Sunday.

Looking every inch the doting mother, Marcia beamed with pride as she enjoyed the LA sunshine.

Her carefree nature made a refreshing change to the perfectly-groomed character she plays on the hit US show.

The auburn-haired twins, dressed in matching pink outfits and sunhats, were the apple of Marcia's eye as Eden even wore a pair of sunglasses to match her mother's.

Not content to be left out, Savannah made a bid to grab Marcia's shades.

Marcia had the twins after marrying stockbroker Tom Mahoney in 2006.

The wedding followed the death of her long-term partner Richard Jordan from a brain tumour in 1993.

She met Mr Mahoney, 48, in a flower shop in December 2004.

Marcia was reportedly placed on bedrest until the twins delivery, requiring her to suspend her role in the show.

However, because she did not want to give up working, she brought the Desperate Housewives cast and crew to her home to shoot some scenes in her own bedroom, painting it to like like Bree's.
