Copycat Victoria Beckham steals Selma Blair's outfit

Updated 15:45pm on 14 Feb 2008

Victoria Beckham has committed the ultimate celebrity fashion crime - brazenly stealing another star's look.

Posh Spice spent Friday night rubbing shoulders with Cruel Intentions star Selma Blair, who wore a striking black and silver confection, at a Marc Jacobs catwalk show in New York.

Copycat: Posh Spice wearing the same dress as the actress two days later

And if imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery, then the actress was surely delighted that just two days later, Posh was spotted at a party at the Maritime Hotel in exactly the same frock.

During her time offstage, Victoria has been a regular fixture on the front rows of New York Fashion Week and along with Selma, supported her designer friend Marc Jacobs during his impressive show.

Victoria reportedly marvelled at Sonic Youth's live performance, saying: "I didn't listen to them before but now I might start."

Selma, meanwhile, gushed about the designer's skill, saying: "Marc's the young wunderkind who never stopped and made young girls want to dress up again."

Victoria has been spending her time in New York balancing her passion for fashion - she was also spotted shopping at Bergdorf Goodman on Monday morning - with the Spice Girls comeback tour.

Last week, the re-formed group played three concerts in the New York area before playing Newark's Prudential Center last night, and are set to move on to Chicago on Friday.

She might copy her look but she does not look half as good. Selma Blair is a natural with great presence. She wears the clothes.

With Posh - the clothes wear her.
