Nice wrinkle-free face, Rambo... shame about the hands, hair and heels

Updated 12:29pm on 13 Feb 2008

It may have been 22 years since his last performance as John Rambo, but Sylvester Stallone appears determined to turn back time.

As the stars descended on the red carpet for the London premier of the latest Rambo instalment, 61-year-old Sly seemed to have hardly aged a day.

Wrinkle free: Stallone's face looked frozen in time at last night's Rambo opening in London, despite his 61 years

Stallone's newly smooth complexion raises a few questions as to how he has managed to iron out his wrinkles in the last year.

Perhaps the star has undergone the knife in a bid to reverse the effects of ageing in time for the release of the action-packed sequel.

But Sly's skincare routine is not the only secret he has to looking good.

As he signed autographs for fans outside the Vue cinema in Leicester Square, the actor was pictured sporting what appeared to be a pair of stacked heels.

At 5ft 10in, Sly has reportedly been known to enlist the help of customised footwear in adding a few extra inches to his taut frame.

When asked the secret to his fitness regime tonight, Sly answered "fish, fish, fish".

Scary: Stallone's hands show all his 61 years. He also wore special 'support shoes' which are usually reserved to relieve aching muscles and back problems

"I try to ignore the scepticism about my age and just get on with making films.

The long-awaited film sees Rambo finding himself recruited by a group of Christian missionaries to protect them against pirates during a humanitarian aid delivery to the persecuted Karen people of Burma.

Stallone also revealed that he had received death threats while filming.

He said: "Yes, got them all the time - it's a very dangerous part of the world. A lot of people do disappear and you know they didn't want this film to be made.

"The civil wars have been going on for 60 years and no one knows about it because they pay a fortune to keep it quiet."

Yes they are MBT shoes, which I wear also and they have helped me eliminate sciatica by strengthening my lower back muscles. I wish though I was in as good shape as Sly!

No matter what the papers say he still makes the best films, and still looks good at 61.

Sly is in unbelievable shape and is making films that are drawing big crowds, yet some people are knocking him! What an ageist society.

I think they are MBT shoes, not designed to help aching joints but to better posture and improve walking.

Yeah yeah..
Stallone is short, old, etc etc. Who cares? As long as the movies are entertaining that's all that matters! If its important then sorry to ruin the following.

Sean Connery wore wigs as Bond. Al Pacino is short. Jason Bourne is not real.

Its all smoke and mirrors and none of its real - but the entertainment is.
