Fern Britton's Ashes to Ashes moment: 80s flashback to when she was thin enough to dance in a skintight leotard

Updated 09:13am on 18 Feb 2008

She's known for her infectious giggling with This Morning co-host Philip Schofield.

But presenter Fern Britton's giggles turned to embarrassment yesterday when in an Ashes to Ashes moment, producers flashbacked to the eighties to show a clip of her when she was thin enough to dance on television in a skintight leotard.

In an eighties-themed version of the popular magazine show That's Rich, a clip showed Fern doing a tap dance in a revealing outfit.

Jumping Jill Flash: Television presenter Fern Britton cringed on This Morning yesterday as she was confronted by a clip of her 25-year-old self prancing around in a silver leotard and leggings

Dancing queen: An energetic Fern smiles gamely as she gives it her all during her tapdancing routine on 1982 show That's Rich

A clearly embarrassed Fern, 50, watched the clip with stand-in co-presenter Eamonn Holmes, who looked suitably amused at the sight of his co-host prancing around.

Almost as amused as he looked when Britton produced a photograph of the pair when they first appeared on TV together in the early 90s.

Unexpected: An embarrassed Fern revealed she had not seen the clip of herself tapdancing on a TV show 20 years ago

The Sky News presenter Holmes, 48, stood in for regular This Morning host Philip Schofield.

The duo worked at GMTV together before Holmes left for Sky's breakfast show and Fern went to ITV1's This Morning.

Clearly, he understood Britton's pain, as when she whipped the photograph out on live TV , he looked rather embarrassed, presumably at the sight of added inches on his waistline.

Blast from the past: Even co-host Eamonn Holmes was taken aback by the footage on yesterday's show
