Anna Friel goes for a jog and baby Gracie comes too - pushed by her personal trainer

Updated 15:28pm on 19 Feb 2008

Having trouble fitting in a jog and looking after your daughter? In LA there's always a way, as Anna Friel discovered.

Her solution was to put two-year-old Gracie in a buggy and get her trainer to do the pushing while she pounded the streets of Hollywood.

What Gracie made of it all is unclear, but the muscle-bound fitness guru was certainly showing the strain as he combined shouting encouragement and advice with pushchair duties.

For Miss Friel, 31, who made her name in this country in the Channel 4 soap Brookside, it is all a sign that she has got the hang of how to be a star, LA-style.

But while she enjoys a six-year contract on the hit black comedy Pushing Daisies, in which she plays a murdered woman brought back to life by her childhood sweetheart, there is no danger of her forgetting her past.

Miss Friel, from Rochdale, is said to have hired a nanny from Lancashire to ensure that Gracie will have an accent just like her own.

"I know my roots and where I'm from," she has said. "I'm northern and I always will be."
