Kylie abandons the glamour for a freezing night out in London

Freezing: Kylie wraps up from London's freezing temperatures

Kylie Minogue braced herself from the cold weather as she headed out in London last night.

With her hair pinned back, the 39-year-old singer snuggled her face deep into her scarf as the wind whipped up around her.

After spending the past week in a variety of glamorous gowns for the Elle Style Awards and Bambi Awards, it was back to comfort for the Australian singer, who was determined not to freeze in the plummeting temperatures in the capital.

Dressed in a pair of old jeans, PVC quilted jacket and camouflage-print trainers, Kylie took time out of rehearsing for her Brit Awards performance to dine with friends at a Knightsbridge restaurant.

The pop star spent Monday holed up in a west London dance studio practising for her performance at the Earls Court bash tomorrow night.

As well as performing, Kylie will also present the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award to Sir Paul McCartney.

Kylie struck up a friendship with Sir Paul after they performed together at Jools Holland's Hootenanny in December.

Meanwhile, Kylie's long-time stylist William Baker has announced the singer is set to reinvent her wardrobe in preparation for her 40th birthday in May and has signed up designer Jean-Paul Gaultier to create her forthcoming tour costumes.

Baker said: "We will see Kylie ageing gracefully. She's celebrating her 40th birthday this year, so what we have planned is just to move in the right direction.

"We're working with Jean Paul Gaultier on the costumes - he designed Madonna's Blond Ambition tour."

"The outfits he designs are incredibly sophisticated - we're moving on to the next level, which is what she did with the last album.

"He creates iconic pop fashion. What he did for Madonna's concert was like a religious experience for me."
