Wearing a partly see-through Prada dress, pregnant Nicole Kidman told yesterday how she now only wants to make films which she would be happy to take her children to see.

Despite in the past having starred in a series of movies with steamy sex scenes or nudity, the 40-year-old actress says she chose her latest film, The Golden Compass, because it was child-friendly.

Cradling her baby bump, Miss Kidman - who adopted two children with her first husband Tom Cruise - said: "My Bella and Connor are 13 and 15.

"So they have seen the film and they loved it. My child inside won't see the film for a long time.

"But I think once you have children, you want to balance the work you do because they give up so much of you to your work.

"So you want to make films that they can take their friends to, they can go to the premiere of, that they can celebrate."

The Australian actress, who married country singer Keith Urban in June 2006, is not yet four months' pregnant.

She was in Japan promoting The Golden Compass, based on Philip Pullman's trilogy of children's novels.

Miss Kidman and 40-year-old Urban, the man she calls "the love of my life", told their families at Christmas that they were expecting a baby.

The couple's marriage had a rocky start. Shortly after the wedding, Urban was admitted to rehab to deal with a drink problem.

Miss Kidman, who supported him has previously spoken of her desire for more children.

"I just want to have this child safely and happily and then we will see. Keith and I would really love to have a big family."

Miss Kidman first revealed all 22 years ago, in Windrider. She has also appeared nude in Eyes Wide Shut, among other films, and briefly, on stage in The Blue Room, in London in 1998.

I think Nicole Kidman is one of those women who feels sexy all year long , so why not show it off?

- Roy Mabe Jr., Castlewood,Virginia

It's not especially see-through.

- Jonathan, Osaka, Japan

Love the dress, not playing it safe at all. Very Nicole Kidman. Looking beautiful as always.

- Amy, UK

Good for her - why can't a pregnant woman feel sexy?

- Jo, canvey island

It's an absolutely hideous dress.
