Defiant Holly Willoughby insists: 'I love my curves - and I'll keep showing them off'

Updated 10:29am on 28 Feb 2008

From her infamous plunging cream frock to her latest daring low-slung backless gown, Holly Willoughby's wardrobe has continued to raise eyebrows in recent months.

But the Dancing On Ice presenter has revealed she has no intention of covering up her car-crash curves any time soon.

In a new interview, the 27-year-old says: “I'm not going to change my entire wardrobe just because of what people have said. I love the dresses I wear, I think they are beautiful and until I think differently, I'll carry on.

Controversial look: Holly, here presenting the show in January, raised eyebrows with her distinctly less conservative outfits

“I'm womanly, I have boobs and hips and I dress to accommodate them - that's not going to change. Why should it?”

“People say: 'You're a real curvy woman, you look great – go for it!' and everyone on the show thinks it's hilarious”

“I'm proud of my curves and I've always worn low necklines.”

Holly says that the focus on her décolletage doesn't concern her, describing the press coverage as mostly “positive”.

The star also revealed she wasn't always so buxom, telling the Daily Mirror: “It's ironic that I became a bra model. When I was at school I was known as the flat-chested girl. I blossomed late.”

Holly's latest revealing dress: She's covering up her cleavage but has a daring plunging back on last night's show

She adds that her TV producer husband Dan Baldwin copes well with the amount of attention she receives.

She says: “He's as surprised as I am but he's cool about it. I suppose he's always seen me in low-cut tops so it's nothing new. He loves my body… he loves what I wear.

Not all Dancing On Ice viewers share his opinion. On Sunday night, Holly's backless - and almost bottomless - dress revealed far more flesh than the most daring of necklines.

An audience member said: "From the front the black dress looked very restrained - but as soon as Holly turned her back, it looked like she was in danger of revealing a builder's bum."

The dress was made by Jovani, the designer also behind the controversial white low-cut number which led to the initial outcry about the presenter's suitability for the ITV show's family audience.

Jovani also created the revealing peach silk dress Miss Willoughby wore on the show before going out to celebrate her 27th birthday.

The low-cut white dress Miss Willoughby wore last month prompted scores of comments from viewers.

"Why doesn't she stop messing around and just do the show topless?" one asked on a TV website message board.

Another wrote: "My husband and I have great fun trying to bet how low her top will be each week. She does struggle to keep them in, doesn't she?"

Others suggested Miss Willoughby's revealing wardrobe was far from suitable for Sunday night family viewing.

Her outfits were said to be diverting attention from the celebrities competing for the trophy and from her co-host Phillip Schofield.

It's not the first time she has proved a distraction. Four years ago Miss Willoughby raised eyebrows when she accidentally flashed a breast as she danced on the children's show Ministry of Mayhem.

What is wrong with some of you people?
Heaven forbid I ever carry so much hatred around with me to start calling ANYONE "fat", "ugly" and "Miss Piggy".
I feel truly sorry for anyone in the public eye, particularly female celebrities, as it seems there are a lot of vicious, jealous, issue-ridden people queueing up to tear them apart.

As women, you are not jealous if you seek respect for yourself and for others. If men do not feel the need to be in a state of undress as presenters, singers and celebrities, why do so many women feel they must? After all, it has nothing to do with their jobs: are they are not working as prostitutes? Perhaps in some ways... Exposing yourself is nothing to do with skills and this proves it is unfair, exploitative and unnecessary.

I'm gob smacked at all these pathetic, jealous bitchy comments about a very pretty and inoffensive girl. Fat? Yeah right!! Oh and I think she does a great job on TV. I bet all of you who have made the nasty, low comments are stunners aren't you....NOT!

holly is so talentless, all she does is make baby noises and does a pathetic annoying laugh, if it wasn't for her producer husband she would be working in a shop, because lets face it you can hardly call her a good tv presenter, she is miss piggys double you have to admit the girl looks like a pig and she is fat not curvy lose some weight holly. she tries to wear revealing clothes to hide the fact she has a pigs face i do feel sorry for her because whatever she does she still and will look like miss piggy

I agree with lou lou, holly thinks she is gods gift when she clearly isn't she should get to the gym because she is a fatty i have a picture of her and miss piggy and i could not tell the difference between the two. Fearne Cotton is evrything she is not and when you put the two together you can see what a face ache holly is next to a stunning looking girl

fearne cotton is everything holly isn't. Holly is fat and looks too much like miss piggy from the muppets her eyes look like a dead fish she shows more gums than teeth when smiling look at the poor girls nose she needs plastic surgery on it and my advice to her is get to the gym and stay in it and get that excess weight off

I THINK SHE LOOKS AMAZINE, WHY THE SKINNY ANORECSICK KATE MOSS SHOWS HER TINY LITTLE BOOBIES AND IS NEVER CRITICISED FOR IT BUT WHEN A WOMAN HAS SHAPLY BODY AND IS COMFORTABLE IN IT AND WEARS CLOTHS TO SHOW IT SHE IS BEING TORN APPART? VIVA SHAPES!!!! IF I HAD A DAUGHTER WHO WOULD WANT TO LOOK HEALTHY AND PRETTTY LIKE HER I WOULD BE HAPPY, BUT IF SHE WANTED TO BE A SKINNY SIZE 4 OR 6 MODEL THEN I WOULD WORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holly looks like miss piggy, she is fat and should go to the gym, when she smiles her teeth and gums look deformed its vile thats what gives her a wonky face. Its politically correct to employ ugly TV presenters with no talent.

i think holly is fat, has a rubbery face, when she smiles you see a load of gums her teeth are weird. but maybe her personality makes up for her fat ugly face

I personally think that Holly is gorgeous. People are so cruel. If i had the same body as her and people made comments like that to me im sure i would become depressed that people think such hurtful things.

I'm with Doreen all the way on this - Holly's weird wonky face is ugly. Those eyes have that 'dead' look about them, like she wants to brainwash the nation while distracting them with her revealing clothes.

i hardly ever say a woman is ugly because fat women tend to have prettier faces in most cases but on this occasion i have to agree with DOREEN-she always seem to look awkward and i can't ever get those eyes-her pupils seem wrongly positioned or is it me??LMAO

As far as I am concerned, Holly can wear whatever she likes, she would look great in anything because she has the body for it, keep away from the knife Holly, you don`t need it, your body is perfect just the way it is. I think she is a warm and caring person, and a great presenter, she makes me smile everytime I see her on the box. All the best from a great fan.

Holly looks lovely and is a great presenter - you definitely need wit and charm to present and she has it, plus a great smile. They're hardly revealing dresses - a bit of cleavage and that's it - carry on Holly - you look fab!

She's a good role model for young girls who are watching the show- she's a healthy size, physically fit and looks fab. Better than the "fake boobs on toothpick body" look that's favoured by some people.

She is more like a game show assistant than a TV presenter (like TV presenter Fern Britton for example) as Phil seems to do all the work and Holly is just decoration! She is a lovely looking girl and does not need to wear dresses with her boobs or bum hanging out. If she wants to be taken seriously as a presenter she is going completely the wrong way about it!

I think she has a fab body and it is nice to see someone who is proud to have curves and loves to show them off. That white dress was lovely!

Holly, half the country and then some more love your curves as well, so don't listen to the jealous stick insects, and show those cute sexy curves girl.

Doreen from London has it right, and if that is the only way she can get a job by exposing herself then I suppose she has to, after all no talent is needed to present, is it? Makes me feel proud of all the honest hours I put in to the office job I had for years which took so much training.

It's not like she adds any other value to the show, is it? If it wasn't for her outfits, people would wonder why she was there...

I do believe Doreen could be suffering from an attack from the green eye monster. You can hardly call Holly "ugly".

I think Holly has to wear plunging necklines to divert people looking at her ugly face! You have to admit the girl looks like miss piggy!

Doreen, Holly is a very attractive young woman who could probably give you a run for your money in the looks dept. And I'm not some lech of a bloke but a female who can appreciate when another female is attractive.

Surely it is up to ITV what she wears and not her, so is this just a bit of pr. What does "car crash curves" mean, does it mean she looks like she has been in a car crash, or is it a reference to cars going out of control on a bend. Please enlighten me.
