Amy Winehouse leads the celebrity pack with her love of leopard print

Leopard print has roared back into the world of fashion after it was paraded by a raft of rebellious celebrities.

The animal inspired fabric is favoured by tattooed stars including Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears and Oscar winning stripper-turned-screenwriter Diablo Cody.

Troubled soul singer Winehouse took a walk on the wild side last night teaming leopard leggings with a sparkly black top and trademark beehive. She was seen clutching a photo of her husband of nine months, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Blake has been held on remand at London's Pentonville Prison since November while he awaits trial for attempting to pervert the course of justice and GBH. Later on Amy had tied a leopard print scarf in a turban style over her dark locks.

Meanwhile pop star Britney has been seen out and about in an animal print vest. A judge recently ruled that the singer is still not capable of looking after herself or her children a month after she had a very public breakdown and was taken to hospital.

Wearing the print seems to hint at a colourful past. Former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy who is dating Jim Carrey, chose to wear leopard print to a recent do and the fabric has now even graced the Academy Awards red carpet.

Diablo Cody, the stripper-turned-screenwriter who won an Oscar for 'Juno,' wore a striking safari print Christian Dior gown to the ceremony. She proved the animal print is sleek and sexy with a touch of rock'n'roll - far from the Coronation Street stereotype of Bet Lynch.

In Britain, Jamelia released her inner animal last week at London Fashion Week. The singer stood out from the crowds in a daringly sculpted leopard print dress that she wore to the Julien Macdonald's showcase.

Kate Moss, the leader of the fashion pack, just can't stop wearing her favourite leopard print trench coat. Flame-haired model Lily Cole, pop princess Kylie and Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria have also been snapped wrapped up in spots.

And the fabric is proving a hit on the high street. A safari chic blouse designed by Roberto Cavalli for H&M sold out just hours after it was launched in the UK.
