Ageing punk rebel Blondie is fading to grey

Updated 20:13pm on 1 Mar 2008

It could be time for Debbie Harry to cover up and tone it down as age has caught up on the icon of punk.

As the 62-year-old singer and actress stepped out for the opening night of Broadway musical Passing Strange, it was clear her trademark blonde locks now have streaks of grey.

Unlike the much-copied back-combed platinum mane she sported in the seventies, her hair was cropped revealing a fuller face.

However, age has not stopped the idol from being as glamorous as ever.

Dressed in a fashionable monochrome ensemble which included a fur wrap and pointed white boots, she accessorised her look with a white leather clutch bag and red lipstick.

Despite her continuing style, Debbie's changed look could be a sign she is moving away from the raunchy live shows that have characterised her career.

The singer has sang in various bands since the seventies and still tours as a solo artist.
