It's going to be all white: Wills and Kate plan a romantic snowy getaway

Updated 07:57am on 4 Mar 2008

While the spotlight is on Prince Harry returning from Afghanistan, brother William is busy planning a skiing trip with girlfriend Kate Middleton.

Recent reports have suggested they are going through another rocky patch in their four-year relationship, but I can report the couple are happily heading off together to the Swiss resort of Klosters next month.

William, 25, who is training with the RAF at Cranwell in Lincolnshire, is able to see Kate only on occasional weekends.

But, despite the distance between them, their relationship remains strong and Kate, 26, will be at William's side during his cousin Peter Phillips' wedding at Frogmore in the grounds of Windsor Castle in May.

"The rumours that they are on the rocks are rubbish," a close chum says. "It is simply that they have not been out clubbing together and are keeping a low profile.

"They are also getting a bit older and prefer to go to friends for dinner rather than raving at Boujis.

"They talk on the phone pretty much every day. And they were together only the other week, but no one got to hear about it.

"They were with some friends at a private house party and were very tactile together.

"William had his arm round Kate and they were very much a couple. Kate is on the guest list for Peter's wedding to Autumn Kelly."

William and Kate, who met at St Andrews University, are hoping to persuade Prince Charles to join them for the skiing trip, despite the Prince of Wales having been warned to give up the sport due to his ongoing back injury. Prince Harry is also due to be part of the jaunt.

While William continues his military commitments, I hear Kate is also making plans for her own future while she waits for the Prince to propose.

"She has talked about going to New York so she can develop her photography career," a friend reveals. "She is making plans to go over there soon."

Good grief, marry a royal princess and stop this nonsense of marrying commoners like Diana and Sarah. Give us a gel who knows the ropes of being royal.
