One is an A-list film star, the other a reality show judge. And on paper, they don't appear to have much in common.

But for Julia Roberts and Sharon Osbourne the saying beauty is only skin deep applies, as both women were seen out looking remarkably plain without their usual carefully applied veneer of make-up.

Pale face: Actress Julia Roberts and Sharon Osbourne both opted for make-up free looks. Julia was out in New York for the evening and Sharon was shopping in Beverly Hills

Mother-of-three Julia was seen on a rare night out in New York on the weekend, without a trace of make-up leaving her looking pale, and somewhat washed out.

The Oscar-winner definitely looked a pale imitiation of her usual highly groomed red carpet self, as she enjoyed a night out in New York.

And Sharon Osbourne, who has famously spent thousands on cosmetic surgery procedures might want to spend some on up topping up her make-up kit.

The 55-year-old X Factor firebrand looked somewhat under the weather without her usual layer of make-up.

Compared to photos of the stars when fully made-up for an event, Julia and Sharon look barely recognisable.

Ironically Julia was recently named the Best Dressed Oscar winner in a new online poll.

The actress' look at the 2000 Academy Awards, where she was named Best Actress for her portrayal of 'Erin Brockovich', gave her the style edge over Halle Berry in Parade.com Oscar survey.

Roberts scooped up 25 per cent of the vote with Berry's 2001 outfit trailing close behind with 24 per cent.

They look pale, but still attractive.

They both are gorgeous. Leave them alone.

These are perfectly attractive women without their make up on and suddenly they are "washed out" and "under the weather". They are totally normal! What would be odd would be if they wore their intensive, "applied for the lights and cameras" make-up all the time. Why is it "ironic" that Julia was named Best Dressed Oscar winner? Should she be wearing her Oscar outfit constantly to avoid the so-called "irony" of her looking like a normal woman occasionally? "Dressed" means just that... sometimes a woman should be allowed to be Un-Dressy without the world commenting on it.
